Scenes From The Wire: Bubbles Walks Through Hamsterdam

This may be the most intense scene in all five seasons of The Wire. It shows Bubbles, a heroin addict, walking through the legalized drug zone at night. Frightening stuff.

Scenes from The Wire: Chicken McNuggets

I got this from my friend's blog. It's another throw away scene, but like every throw away scene in The Wire, it speaks to the larger themes of the show.

What do you mean, you say?

D'ANGELO: And the nigga that invented them things still working in the basement for a regular wage thinking of a way to make the fries taste better or some shit like that. Believe.

D'Angelo isn't talking about some guy at McDonalds but every low end drug dealer like himself and Bodie.

Scenes from The Wire: D'angelo Barksdale discusses The Great Gatsby

Many critics have said that The Wire has the depth of great literature, and this scene is a perfect example of why. In it, D'Angelo Barksdale discusses The Great Gatsby in a prison reading group and shows some wonderful insight into the Gatsby character. But here's the kicker... about half way from through his little speech about Gatsby, you realize that D'Angelo is really talking about himself. Very, very few shows have that many layers and have that much depth.

Scenes from The Wire: Snoop buys a nail gun

I am going to start posting great scenes from "The Wire," because as I've said before, it's the best show ever created.

Anyway, here is a great one from Season 4, where Snoop buys a nail gun. It's kind of a quirky, throw-away moment, but it's also reminder of why the "The Wire" is so great... even the throw-away moments are brilliant.
